The AXA Foundation for Human Progress is the latest expression of AXA‘s philanthropic commitment to addressing societal, scientific, cultural and environmental challenges in the countries where the Group operates. With an annual budget of €60 million, this foundation centralises and amplifies the philanthropic initiatives of AXA and its mutual insurance companies in order to support high-impact projects in line with the Group’s mission: ‘Acting for human progress by protecting what matters’.

In this context, the AXA Foundation for Human Progress is supporting the RECOVER project, led by Fabrizio de Vico Fallani at Paris Brain Institute. This funding supports an innovative approach to rehabilitation for people who have suffered a stroke, a major cause of acquired disability in adults.

The RECOVER project draws on the expertise of Paris Brain Institute in brain-computer interfaces, technologies capable of capturing brain activity linked to movement intention and converting it into sensory or motor feedback, thereby promoting brain plasticity. The ambition is to optimize the effectiveness of these interfaces by combining them with non-invasive brain stimulation techniques, creating conditions more conducive to functional recovery and paving the way for more personalized rehabilitation strategies.

Thanks to the support of the AXA Foundation for Human Progress, the RECOVER project can strengthen its work, accelerate its experiments and contribute to advancing concrete solutions for patients affected by the after-effects of a stroke.
